ABOUT THE ARTIST
I have had two life passions since my youth; namely, international politics and photography.
Initially, I pursued a career in international business, achieving the equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from the Externado de Colombia. I worked for several years in Columbia in my chosen field, followed by further education in Madrid, Spain at the Instituto de Empresa. More work in international business ensued, as did a move from Spain to Chile.
Once in Chile, I made a major life change, re-focusing my profession to fulfill my passion for the art of photography. My formal training began with a Diploma in Photography from Catholic University in Santiago, Chile, followed by a Masters of Arts in Photography in the United States (from Barry University in Miami, Florida).
I have always been fond of working with people as photographic subjects. During my graduate studies, I photographed friends and people from my neighborhood. This culminated with a series of environmental portraits entitled “Serving the Community”, featuring law enforcement officers and fire fighters from my neighborhood in Key Biscayne, Florida.
Subsequently, I worked with various cultural institutions in Miami, including professional dance companies such as the Miami Contemporary Dance Company and Next Step Dance, as well as individual dancers from the Miami City Ballet. I expanded my portraiture work with artists and musicians including an extensive series with the Miami Symphony Orchestra.
Additionally, I have worked in commercial fashion photography featuring children and families with local Miami designers such as Tatiana da Silva of Mami and Me or Clara Lago of Pitusa among others.
My work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami (MOCA), the Key Biscayne Public Library and the Gato Gallery at Barry University.
I continue to work with dance companies and other cultural institutions to capture the beauty of the various people who work in the Arts. I further specialize in commercial photography for children (for designers, local businesses and modeling agencies) as well as in producing portraits for families who want to preserve memories of their children. |
